New Digg v3 to cover all topics

Digg already soared past Slashdot as the most influential tech-centered news portal. The “Digg effect” can bring down the servers of sites linked from the homepage and drive a frenzy of blogging and news coverage — or spread rumors like nobody’s business. That’s why Yahoo reportedly offered $40 million for the company (to which founder Kevin Rose says, “I wish!”)

But Digg is destined for bigger things than tech news. The above screenshot of Digg version 3 (not showing? wait for it), leaked from a beta tester a week before its launch, reveals categories for “Business” and “World News.” This should give Digg a leg up on AOL’s rumored general-interest Digg killer.

The tipster says, “I’ve counted 25+ new topics in this build of the beta, and there is a new design top-to-bottom.”

I cant wait!

Picasa Web Album

Hmmm Google just released there new service “Picasa Web Albums” and heres my initial analasys.

  • It installs picasa 2 to your machine and then starts searching the hard drive for pictures.
  • You get almost 3gb for email but only 250 mb for images and pictures
  • What ever happened to Gdrive!?
  • So basically you log in to your gmail account and set up a album and start adding photos to it. really simple.
  • Web Albums are of decent quality, check out mine.

Its preety good. Good to see google jumping into images and pictures. But I think ill stick with flickr.

Flock Beta: I Like

This is really really cool I love the blogging interface and I like how if you just drag and drop a image to a text box it will upload it and write out the code in html and put it on the page. So MySpace comments with pictures will be easier than ever.

On top of that it runs better than the old versions and has a slightly updated interface that works really well.

Best part is the only problem I ran into has a easy to find solution I just didnt realize it was there (editing the source of a blog post).

Now that I have tinkerd with it for awhile I really like.

I love what flock is turning into and I can’t wait to see what I’ll see in the future =D

You can go ahead and grab flock from its official web site.

Flock Public Beta Tonight

It’s been nearly eight months since Silicon Valley based Flock released a developer version of its Firefox based browser. This evening they are releasing their first public beta version, available for Windows, Mac and Linux machines, at Flock.com. I’ve been running the most recent developer release on my Mac for the last few weeks and it is now my browser of choice.

I hope flock is alot better then when I tried the developers version (not any of the new ones, I like to check applications out in BIG UPDATES that way nothing seems gradual)

If you want to read the full story here.Or you can check out the flock website.

10th Post =D

Filed under: LIB News, Tech, Blog

Yes. Already reaching my 10th post I thought I just might say something about it and start my blog.

Whatever happened to the UMPC? The thing everyone was excited about until the price was announced? I mean are they a failed idea or do they just need to come into action when the stuff inside of them costs less. I dunno I thought it was nifty and cool but I figured it would die out.

On top of that I havent heard about anything intresting lately……..the news is so dull.

What else is new….oh yah Vista Beta 2 came out and I have been trying to find screenshots of it but like everyone only posts one or two screenshots. Id run it on my own machine but right now im on my laptop which isnt stong enough to run vista.

I think what im going to do is get a collection of links to screenshots of Vista Beta 2 for people like me =D yay!

Digg: Soon, Not Just for Geeks Anymore

Digg, the collaborative tech news site, will soon branch out beyond geekdom. At a Web 2.0 panel at the eBay Developers Conference today, President Kevin Rose said that in the next month or so, the popular site–where people vote on stories submitted by others, with the highest vote-getters moving to the top of the front page–will add coverage of world news, entertainment, politics, and more. Major redesign is in the works.

It’ll be interesting to see if Digg, and other nerdy sites like Techmeme.com that are trying to branch out beyond tech, will appeal to the general population. I think what they’re doing–generally tapping into the zeitgeist using people’s own opinions of the best articles and posts–has great potential value beyond tech news. But I wonder if the sites themselves can stretch their brand that far (SOURCE)

I love this idea! Now we will be able to post about anything and digg will be THE news spot.

Firefox To Drop Support For Windows 98, Me

Mozilla will drop support for the nearly obsolete operating systems when it releases Firefox 3.0 in 2007. Some users criticized the decision.

Leer: I don’t care….with vista on the way I dont see what is the point..most of the problems that we encounter on IE now doesnt apply to PC’s that old. Some of the Malware wont even work on the machines. Browsing the web without firefox, or with a old copy, should not be that big of a deal.

Eric Bauman sucks. And his site does to.

So I thought I might bring this up….well first watch this.(bottom of the page)

So basically this site got all popular do to the fact that he was stealing and he has made alot of money from others people work. (Oh and by the way that ebaums world sucks video is by the guys who made “The Ultimate Showdown” )

And well theres this nifty animation called Animation vs. Animator and well….ebaum stole it…and will be sued.

I’d like to thank those with morals who have contacted me to support Albino Blacksheep and our member Alan Becker the author of Animator vs. Animation. As I reported earlier, Alan’s copyright has been violated by another website. Alan allowed three websites in total to post his file including here at ABS, but no other sites beyond the three. As the copyright holder, Alan has full say where his file may and may not be posted according to the Digital Millenium Copyright Act of 1998.

Alan specifically did not allow Mr. Bauman’s site to post his file, but Mr. Bauman did so anyways hoping Alan would never even notice. I have spoken to Alan and Alan’s father who will take the necessary legal steps against Mr. Bauman. Although it will take some time and money, and I will personally help out anyway I can in this process. I have already donated small funds. I am familiar with Mr. Bauman’s documented (il)legal tactics, loopholes and outright lies including his reaction to stealing a file that I worked on, so I will make sure Alan is prepared for that.

It goes without question to regulars here that I have made personal connections with hundreds of animators over the past many years who submit their work here, and I have permission to post every file on this page that is in the Flash format. Alan specifically was smart enough to add Mochie Media tracking code that I provided him to the three legitimate copies of his flash file. This is how we have digital proof of the copyright violation, and that the file was decompiled by the actions of Mr Bauman’s corporation. As well the tracker serves as proof that this is the site that is the source of the file.

Thanks again for the support. I can’t say I am surprised at the amount of people contacting me who have been victims of Mr. Bauman’s actions without receiving credit nor giving Mr. Bauman any permission to publish files. If this post concerns you, time to revisit my copyright information article which includes an audio clip of Mr. Bauman’s employee stating there are no rules and regulations on the Internet. You wish, Mr. Bauman. (SOURCE)

So anyway that about sums up how much eBaums world and Eric Bauman Suck.Nice job stealings peoples work and not giving them credit were credit is due.
